A five-minute weekly habit

What changed in the economy?

Check output, prices and jobs together. These are the latest available observations compared with their previous periods, not necessarily releases from this week. If no new data has been released, the readings may be unchanged since your last visit.

Checking the latest available observations…

Three questions for your weekly check-in

  1. Which observation period changed? GDP is quarterly; inflation and employment are monthly.
  2. Did inflation slow, or did prices actually fall? Those are different claims.
  3. Do output and jobs tell a similar story? One signal alone does not establish a recession.

Historical figures can be revised. These comparisons use currently available history, not an archive of what was known last week.
